Description

The Swedish Institute for Working Life, Arbetslivsinstitutet, will cease operations as of 1 July 2007. Some 400 workers, half of them in Stockholm, are going to be dismissed. This announcement was made on 16 October 2006 when the new Swedish Government put forward its budget proposal.

'This announcement is terribly difficult for me and for everyone employed at the Swedish Institute for Working Life. In addition to people losing their jobs, which is difficult enough to bear, this announcement also means that important research may go to waste', said Director-General Mikael Sjöberg.

The Institute’s mission has been to carry out research and development covering the whole field of working life, on commission from The Ministry of Industry, Employment and Communications.
