International public company Eastern Sugar considers closing of five factories across Central Europe because of the EU price cuts and the plans to reduce output by 4 million tonnes per year.
The company has begun a consultation with 800 staff members in its five factories in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
According to the latest information, Eastern Sugar Company in Dunajská Streda in Slovakia will be definitely closed and 180 employees will be dismissed. The closure will also affect 118 white beet producers in the country.
