Description

On 2 October 2006 the supermarket-group Laurus announced its plans to scrap 490 jobs during a reorganisation in the coming months. At the headquarter 265 jobs will be lost, which will save up to 15 million euro per year on personel costs. The headquarter will be transferred from Den Bosch to Amersfoort where already another office is located. Furthermore, a distribution centre in Waddinxveen, where 225 people are employed, will be closed down in the first half of 2007.

According to the announcement the reorganisation is a direct result of the sale of different shop-formulas like Edah en Konmar in the summer of 2006, as a consequence of the demands of a banking consortium the reduce Laurus' outstanding debts.
