Description
Marie Surgelés France, specialised in the sale of frozen cooked dishes, announced on 10 October 2006 the closure of two factories between November 2006 and April 2007. The CEO informed the work's council and the trade unions that the company, owned by agro-alimentary group British Uniq, has economic difficulties due to strong competition. The planned job losses are distributed as follows: in the factory of Mirebeau (Vienne) 68 job cuts out of 351 employees and in the factory of Arvault (Deux Sèvres) 103 job losses out of 287 employees. Trade unions are surprised because they did not think there would be as many as 171 job cuts. The remaining 467 employees in the two affected units will work in others factories of the group. The company employs 1,900 people across its seven French sites.
