Description
Baltic Conservatories has gone into administration, resulting in about 200 workers losing their jobs. Management at Baltic Conservatories, based in Falmouth, told staff of the closure on Wednesday.
Managing director Tony Murtagh said they could not afford to keep the firm open and were looking for a purchaser. Designers, sales representatives and staff who install the firm's timber conservatories around the country will all lose their jobs. The job losses announced follow the 90 job cuts in Penzance.
Mr Murtagh said they had tried to turn the business around but would have had to spend another £5m to keep to company operating over the winter. The company was continuing to look for a positive solution, he added.
