Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The local newspaper 'Le Progrès' announced on 20 September 2006 that 130 jobs are to be cut between October 2006 and February 2007. The job losses will take place as follows: 35 in Saint-Etienne (Loire) and 95 in Chassieu (the Rhone). The CEO announced that 35 workers would be pre-retired.
Back in spring 2006, after the acquisition of the newspaper by the Ebra group, the CEO already announced the intention to cut jobs due to financial difficulties.
