Description
A struggling NHS [National Health Service] trust in North Yorkshire is considering closing two wards and axing up to 100 jobs in a bid to save money, it has emerged. Last year, the Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust overspent by £7m. This was followed by a review of the Trust's operating procedures, after the Audit Commission concluded that inadequate leadership and ineffective management were the cause of one of the worst deficits in the NHS nationally. The review that was taken identified the possibility of ward closures and job cuts, although the trust board has yet to take a firm decision.
