Description
The Agora media group – owner of the Gazeta Wyborcza daily, a radio station, and an internet portal – has planned collective redundancies, to be effective between September 20 and December 31, 2006. The redundancies will extend to 250 positions; the hope is that they will increase the company’s operating efficiency and help its share price (Agora is listed on the Warsaw Securities Exchange). Agora currently employs 3,600 people. The last round of redundancies, held two years ago, affected approximately 500 people.
In December 2006 the Agora's Board of Directors informed the Employment Office that the collective dismissals would remain till 31 March 2007.
