Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Danish multinational manufacturer of pumps and compressors, Grundfos, has hired 200 new employees to the factory in Bjerringbro during the last months. The reason is lack of workforce in the Danish part of the production. This was not foreseen since during the last years Grundfos has invested great sums in automatisation. All 200 employees are Danish and they are employed on a fixed basis. Grundfos now employs 3900 persons at the factories in Bjerringbro, Aalestrup and Langå. Worldwide, Grundfos has 14,000 employees.
