Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hydro Aluminium, a car parts firm that closed two of its UK factories in August 2006, has announced that it is to make 80 of its staff in its Worcester factory redundant. The firm supplies components for firms including Aston Martin and Jaguar. The firm said a reduction in the number of orders for next year made the redundancies necessary. It is not known when the losses will take effect.
