Description
127 employees out of 550 are being laid off at the Hungarian Ministry of Finance. The dismissals form part of streamlining the entire public administration system. The recently re-elected MSZP-SZDSZ coalition Government tries to reduce state expenditures and to restore the budgetary balance (‘austerity package’). All departments of the ministry are affected by the restructuring. Lay offs are coordinated by a 5-member body within the ministry.
