European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
After reducing its workforce at the production level by 8,500, car manufacturer DaimlerChrysler is to eliminate 6,000 administrative positions worldwide. In Germany, 3,200 jobs in areas like finance, human resources and strategic planning will be shed. The total reductions, which amount to 20 percent of the 30,000 people employed in management, will be carried out by the end of 2008. The German works council and DaimlerChrysler now agreed to exclude direct dismissals till the end of 2007.
