Description
On 4 May 2006 ARJ (Azucareras Reunidas de Jaén), one of the five sugar industries in Andalucia, announced the closure of its factory in Jaen. This factory produces about 22 tones of sugar.
The redundancy procedure will affect 195 employees, 186 belonging to the factory of Jaen and 9 belonging to the central office in Madrid. ARF plans to reestructure this factory into a biodiesel production plant and a sugar packaging one, where the rest of employees will be relocated (54 employees in Jaen, 12 in Madrid). These plants are not in operation yet.
ARJ has presented an application form to participate in the reestructuring aid scheme of the OCM (Common Market Organization).
