Description
In July 2006, India`s third largest IT service provider Wipro Ltd announced the intention to invest up to USD 250 million in setting up a new facility in Bucharest. "We are setting up a 250-seat call centre at Bucharest, Romania, and intend to offer technical engineering, accounting and financial services," Wipro BPO (bussiness process outsourcing) chief T K Kurien said, "the centre will start by the end of the third quarter and will also act as a gateway to Europe, mainly eastern European nations." Wipro has 56,435 employees as of 30 June 2006, which includes 40,496 employees in IT Services business and 15,939 employees in BPO business. Total revenues of the company for the quarter ending on 30 June 2006 was $683 million, representing an increase of 37% over the same period last year.
