Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The American group Quiksilver Inc. has announced the loss of 286 employees (2,500 in France) in two Manufactures of skis (in Isère) before the end of the year 2006. The American group considers that there is excess production capacity and that it is necessary to cut 208 jobs in Rossignol Crossey and 78 in Rossignol Sallanches. Rossignol could employ 124 people in other factories and would wish to reclassify part of the employees of Rossignol Crossey. In addition, 56 people of Crossey and 57 people of Sallanches could be in early retirement.
