Description

Cooperl Group, a cooperative specialised in pork production and slaughtering, has witnessed an increase in its export figures (+35% in 2005). As a result of this, the group announced the creation of a new production unit (slaughtering of pigs) in the west of France: Lamballe (Côte d’Armor) where the company already has a production site. Cooperl group currently has 2,600 employees and this investment will create 400 new jobs before July 2008, once the new equipment has been tested. In any case the facilities, with a surface area of 12,000 square meters and an investment of 13 million euro, are expected to be operational since April 2007. Cooperl was founded in April 1966 by a group of farmers in the Lamballe region. Its initial activity was the technical and commercial support of farms (20-30 ha) that were undergoing an increase in the activity. From 1966 to 1978, Cooperl provided production organisation, technical assistance and marketing services to farmers.
