Description
Tréfimétaux (Italian group KME), specialist in copper, has announced the loss of 215 jobs on the site of Sérifontaine (268 jobs). The CEO has decided to transfer its activities of production to Italy and Germany before the end of the year 2006. The group aims to optimize productivity because the competition from South Asia and Eastern Europe is very important. The 53 jobs that will remain will be primarily 'sales representatives'. According to trade unions, who oppose this decision, some jobs could be shifted to the two other French sites of the group (Orne and Ardennes).
