The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Iberia, the former public airlines in Spain until its privatisation in 2001, is going to reduce 9% of its staff.
The workforce was already reduced by 2.1% in 2005 but 2165 employees out of 24044 will be offered early retirement and voluntary redundancies from now until 2008.
The Chairman of the company announced this decision on 30 May 2006 and explained that reducing the staff is the only way to achieve a competitive company.
