Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 26 April 2006, publishing house Wegener (newspapers) announced that it will cut down its annual expenses by 25 million euro. 325 Jobs will be lost in pursuit of this objective.
Wegener will set up a central editorial office for all of its daily papers to provide them with (inter)national news in order to enable the individual papers to focus their attention on the regional news. About half of the jobs (154) that will be lost concerns journalist positions. The commercial division will lose 115 jobs and 58 other position will disappear.
