Description

Ahlsell Norge is part of the Swedish based group Ahlsell. The Norwegian company employs 1350 people all over the country within trade, storage and transport of products and peripheral services to professional users within heating & plumbing, electrical, tools, refrigeration, as well as pipes, fittings, valves, flanges and special items for the oil and gas industry. In 2004 the company aquired both Stavanger and Bergen Rørhandel, and in 2005 it aquired Nexans Distribusjon. The aqusitions now has lead to internal restructuring and relocation of the many units and need for fewer employees. The downsizing will affect both sales, storage and transport all over the country. Earlier this year the company is said to have planned a larger downsizing, but after negotiations with the unions the number now is fixed to 117. Many of these are temporary workers, but the management states that dismissals will be unavoidable. The unions and management agree that seniority will be followed if dismissals and that both the Basic Agreement and the law will be complied with. Dismissals will be sent out during May and June 2006. The unions has demanded severance pay, but this has been denied.
