European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Austrias largest mobile phone provider, Mobilkom Austria, plans to cut 114 of its 2,230 jobs by the end of 2006. This was confirmed by one of the companys speakers on 23 April 2006. However, only 45 employees at several sites all over the country are planned to be directly dismissed. The rest of the planned job reductions shall be reached by natural fluctuation without re-filling the staff. The management argues that this measure is inevitable due to stiffened competition in the mobile phone market. The staff representation body will meet on 25 April 2006 in order to debate over the situation.
