Description

MMI (Mazurskie Meble International), the furniture producer owned by the Schieder group of Germany, has decided to shut down its Olsztyn plant, one of 13 factories operated by the company in Poland. Most of the Olsztyn facility's output was exported. Its closure will leave 137 persons without work. The chairman of MMI quoted the strong Polish currency as the main reason behind the move: appreciation of the złoty has rendered exports from the Olsztyn plant unprofitable.
