Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Valle dAosta Region is the largest shareholder of the Casinò de la Vallée, one of the main European casinos. In March 2006, the Region announced a company reorganisation plan that envisages the shedding of 120 to 170 jobs. The decision has been taken in response to market dynamics and the aim is to reduce the labour costs. The Valle dAosta Region, before implementing the business plan, aims to reach an agreement with the trade unions on the measures that may cushion the effects of restructuring and redundancies, such as income support measures that do not involve outright dismissal, economic incentives for voluntary resignation, as well as training and retraining courses for the workers affected by the reorganisation process.
