Description
Unilever South Central Europe (USCE), which employs 650 people in Romania, intends to relocate the manufacturing plants for margarine and sauces from Târgu Mureş (situated in the Centre Region, with 70 employees) and Otopeni (near Bucharest, South Region, 60 employees) to Ploieşti (South Region), in closer proximity of USCE's manufacturing plant for detergents.
The investment in the new plant in Ploieşti is estimated at three million EUR. The transfer of the two plants is to be finalised by the end of November 2006. Employees of the plants to be closed have been offered the possibility to work in the newly established plant.
The relocation of production is not expected to increase profitability in the short term. 'We intend to create the necessary basis for developing a durable business', announced Alexandra Gătej, the president of the company.
