Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
After ten years of successful operation in Slovakia, Austrian company Doka Industrie decided to expand production in its Slovakian subsidiary, Doka Drevo. Doka Drevo, which produces mostly elements for wooden crates used in construction, will double the volume of production within the next three years. To achieve this goal, the mother company will invest around SKK 550 million and create 150-200 new jobs in Doka Drevo before the end of 2006.
Since 1995, the Austrian company has invested around SKK 450 million into new technology, innovation, modernisation of production lines and information and logistic systems in Doka Drevo. Almost 99% of the production is exported, mostly to other EU countries - Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain.
