Description
Nottinghamshire miners have saved the endangered Harworth colliery from closure by agreeing an eleventh-hour redundancy and productivity deal with UK Coal. The company, which was due to report much stronger annual financial figures on the 2nd March, is to cut a further 70 of the 300 jobs at the mine near Doncaster, while the remainder of the workforce have agreed to longer shifts. The deal was concluded by the Union of Democratic Mineworkers.
