Description
The first store of German supermarket-chain, Kaufland, has opened its doors in Bulgaria's second biggest city, Plovdiv, on March 8. Some 200 new jobs have been created, part of them in the offices of the company's Bulgarian headquarters. Kaufland plans to invest €300 million in Bulgaria and to open 40 stores. The timing of this development will very much depend on the financial results from the first investments, said Mr Spassov, manager of the firm in Bulgaria. Kaufland is the fourth German chain to open stores on the Bulgarian market - after Metro Cash and Carry; Billa (owened by the German REWE group) and HIT.
