Description

In 2006, the Ministry of National Defence (Ministerul Apărării Naţionale, MAPN) will hire 2,400 servicemen. They will fill in the vacancies once Romania renounces on compulsory military service.

The selection process for the 2,400 servicemen will be extended throughout March 2006.

Candidates wanting to work in MAPN must be younger than 26 years of age, having completed mandatory military service and have no criminal record.

Admitted applicants will be hired with a one-year employment contract, which may be extended until they reach 40 years of age. Should the servicemen wish to pursue a military career once they are over 40, they may attend the courses of military education institutions.

The missions of military units to be set up will include eliminating or limiting the effects of natural disasters.
