Description

Dutch Fuji Photo Film BV in Tilburg, a subsidiary

of Japanese photographic film and digital camera maker Fuji Photo Film Co, will cut 250 jobs. The photo film producing plant in Tilburg will have a staff of 1,000 involved mainly in the production of photographic paper and offset plates. The production of offset plates in Tilburg should be expanded. Fuji will invest €40 million in the expansion of the production line. The photo film production will be henceforth based in Japan. Sales of photo films have been decreasing due to the increasing popularity of the digital camera. Only a small part of the redundant employees, between 10 and 15 people, will be offered alternative job opportunities within the organisation of Fuji. Fuji is currently implementing a worldwide reorganisation, including 5,000 job cuts.
