European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The multinational Altadis is specialised in the manufacture of tobacco products. The company has several production centres in Spain and France. On 15 February 2006 the company has announced the reduction of its workforce in Spain by 233, and by 239 in France, totalling 472 dismissals. Early retirement as well as incentivised dismissals are included in the company´s restructuring plan with a cost of 94 million. Labour representatives have announced strong reactions against the measure.
