Description
US biotech company Amgen said it was building a European development centre at Uxbridge, Middlesex, as well as expanding its facility in Cambridge, creating 300 jobs. Amgen's expansion would almost double its research and development capacity in the UK. 'The decision confirms the UK as a major worldwide scientific hub for Amgen,' said Jeremy Haigh, the company's head of research and development in Europe. The UK initiative is part of a wider programme in Europe and the US, including a $1 billion investment in Ireland, which will create more than 1,000 jobs.
