Description

Clariant, a Swiss producer of chemicals, has embarked on a cost-cutting-programme that will lead to savings of €30 million per year. It will also cost 177 jobs in Sulzbach. 87 employees will go into early retirement, 51 jobs will be cut through fluctuation and 29 employees will be given new jobs at other Clariant-factories. 10 employees on temporary contracts will not get a prolongation. Agressive price competition by Asian suppliers was cited as the reason for Clariant's cost-cutting.
