Description

Three hundred Tesco depot workers are to lose their jobs at a supermarket distribution centre in Milton Keynes.

In February 2006 Tesco will close the Kiln Farm depot which it opened 32 years ago. The company says that it can no longer operate at a level needed to serve the company's stores and customers.

Tesco is also meeting workers one-to-one to try to relocate as many staff as possible. Some might be found jobs at Tesco's other big distribution depot in the city at Fenny Lock - which employs 1,200 people - or a new warehouse at Daventry.
