Beginning with October 2005, a new supermarket set to open in Timisoara (Vest region, Timis county) will further extend the Universall store network. The new retail unit attracted a 2.5 million investment. The supermarket will cover a 2,900 square metres area, and will have 17 checkouts and 100 employees. The Universall chain of stores is part of the Romanian GFS group, which reported a turnover of around 74 million in 2004. Currently, the group network includes five supermarkets in various cities across the country and a food hypermarket in Bucharest (Bucharest region) operating under the Universall brand. Also the group owns four proximity stores in Constanta (South-Eastern region, Constanţa county), sub under the Uniall brand. Our short-term plans included the opening of the supermarket in Timişoara. In the long-term we are set on opening another store in Bucharest and several others countrywide company officials declared.
