Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Government Decision no. 891 of 4 August 2005, stipulates the redundancy of 265 employees at Resial company in Alba Iulia (Centru region, Alba county).
Currently, Resial has 283 employees and manufactures refractory bricks, refractory paving tiles and mortar, metallic components, including metallic constructions. In the first semester of 2005, it reported losses of 103 billion old lei (€3 million).
Initially, Resial was not on the list drawn up by Ministry of Economy and Commerce, (Ministerul Economiei şi Comerţului, MEC), of companies scheduled to make redundancies in 2005. However, a recent government decision announced a change of plans: the number of employees to be made redundant in 2005 working in companies subordinated to MEC has been increased by more than 1,000 (from 7,628 to 8,713 people).
Redundant employees will be granted redundancy pay according to the legislation in force.
