Description

Hospira, a US-owned medical devices company, announced on 23 August 2005 that its Donegal plant is to close in approximately 18 months time. Products manufactured there will instead be made in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, where manufacturing costs are lower, the company said. Irelands largest trade union, SIPTU, called for Government action to alleviate the jobs crisis affecting Donegal.
