Description
Taszár Air Base is the first military base in the former Warsaw Pact territory. The Air Base was a logistic base for IFOR and SFOR during the Peacekeeping missions in Bosnia and Kosovo. In the time of war in Iraq, the base was used by American Air Force as a training place of mercenary soldiers The base will be closed in September, 2005. Most of the soldiers will be outplaced to other corps, 40 soldiers will benefit from early retirement measures. 87 public servants will lose their jobs.
