Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Beti Konfekcija Črnomelj, a daughter company of one of the biggest remaining textile companies in Slovenia Beti Metlika, faces closure due to cost management inefficiency. Key clients, 75% of them being EU based, are shifting their interests towards cheaper producers of textiles from Asia, according to company's management. The parent company, itself being pressured to cut jobs, is unable to accommodate the surplus and 180 workers might loose their positions.
