European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
TES is a Swedish company that produces dehumidifiers and air purifiers; Wood's it is one of its brand. The company decided to move the production of dehumidifiers from Canada to Sweden. The production activity was outsourced to a supplier operating in the Electrolux's former factory in Mariestad (Sweden). The relocation was due to a new European requirement that imposes by 2020 the exclusive use of environmental friendly gas for refrigeration. The unit in Canada was not interested in making production changes requested by the EU market. Moreover, relocating the production in Sweden, TES may operate closer to its costumers and suppliers avoiding long delivery time. The manufacturing of the relocated products started in May 2018.
