Description

The Devonport Naval Base will be cutting more than 300 jobs within the next three years. This is the base for refitting the UK's fleet of nuclear-powered submarines, says it needs to shed 114 civilian and 191 military workers. The losses, which represents about a quarter of the workforce, are part of a national cost-cutting exercise. Unions say they hope the jobs can be shed through natural wastage with voluntary redundancies a last resort.
