European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Dutch national railway operator Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) expects to be able to cut some 200 jobs among its train personnel due to an adjustment in its register. NS plans to reduce the time that its engine drivers and ticket collectors have to prepare for check-in and check-out for their train service to 15 minutes from the current 35 minutes.
The 200 jobs to be cut are a rough estimation, the NS spokesperson said. No forced redundancies will be included in the job cuts. The NS employees who loose their current positions will be offered alternative job opportunities within the NS.
The workers' council (OR) of NS' passenger transport unit, NS Reizigers, does not approve the job cuts plan and has proposed to the management of NS to cancel the adjustment of its register.
