Description

The American company Lear Corporation announced its closure in Póvoa de Lanhoso. The measure will affect 800 workers. The company justified the measure by severe economic difficulties and a lack of work related to the strong competition in the market. The company opted for a delocalisation to Romania to meet cheaper labour force. Lear is installed in Portugal since 1988 and has three plants in Portugal (Póvoa de Lanhoso, Vaedlongo and Palmela). The company produces components for the automobile sector.
