Description

The Ministry of Defence has announced that 500 jobs are to be cut at the Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA) at St. Athan, South Wales. The decision to move Tornado aircraft maintenance work away from the facility is the reason for job cuts at the plant. The Amicus union says they are disappointed that the MoD made the job loss announcement as Amicus has been leading the campaign against the decision to remove repair work on Tornado jets from DARA and have warned it would result in the loss of 500 skilled jobs. The previous MOD transfer of Harrier maintenance work out of the DARA has already cost 500 jobs.
