Description

The budget clothing chain Peacock said it aimed to open 80 stores under its three brands in 2005, creating about 800 new jobs. The company, which also owns the Bonmarché and Fragrance Shop brands, said that it had managed to increase its profit for the year to the end of March in spite of tough trading conditions on the high street. Richard Bryant the Finance Director said the group was well-placed to benefit from the economic slowdown as shoppers tended to seek out bargains during a downturn.
