Description

Recent ruling of the constitutional court that illegalizes operation of a majority of merchandise stores on Sundays (the decision is to take effect with the beginning of 2006) might cause 1000 salesmen loosing their jobs throughout the country. Mercator, the biggest retailing chain alone predicts 500 jobs lost as the company accommodates the legal adjustment. Sunday has become a major selling day for local mall operating merchants since 1990s. The trade unions have been firmly supportive of the court decision.
