The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The merger of Cegetel and Neuf Telecom, two French telephone operators, gave rise to a redundancy programme , which according to the union SUD-PTT, will concern 500 and 1,000 jobs out of 4,000. Further information had been given by the management on 23 September 2005. The redundancy programme will be dealt as follow: on top of 100 direct dismissals, 661 voluntary resignations are expected; 200 employees will be internally redeployed and 300 external consulting jobs will go.
