Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 21 April 2005, GTI, leading provider of technical services in the Netherlands announced that 280 jobs will be cut in the GTI sites in Noord-Brabant (where some 700 people are employed by the company). A social plan will be negotiated in order to help people to find a new job. It is estimated that direct dismissals will affect up to 220 employees. 9,000 people currently work for GTI in the Netherlands. The sites in Eindhoven, Tilburg and Roosendaal will be closed.
