Description

The Japanese company Yazaki Saltano, producer of electric material for the automotive sector, announced the relocation of its Portuguese plants. The company decided a delocalisation to Slovakia and Turkey to meet cheaper labour force. Management evoked the lack of work to justify the measure. The measure will affect 500 workers (400 workers in plant of Ovar and 100 workers in plant of Vila Nova de Gaia), whose contracts will be terminated by mutual agreement. Between 1988 and 1999, the group Yazaki benefited of a State subsidy of €1.7 million. Yazaki Saltano is established in Portugal since 1986 where it employs 3,430 people.
