Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Siemens VDO Automotive, one of the world´s leading supplier of electronics, electrical products to the automotive industry, announced the intention to move a part of its activity from a German site (Würzburg) to the Czech Rebuplic (Ostrava) in order to save manufacturing costs amounting to 38.1 million. The restructuring plan takes into account job cuts from current 1,564 to 814. German Trade Unions are strongly protesting against planned job reductions. The company intends to build a new plant in Ostrava and employ up to 1,200 people within two stages. The new production is to be launched in June 2006.
