Description

Siemens VDO Automotive, one of the world's leading supplier of electronics, electrical products to the automotive industry, announced the intention to move a part of its activity from a German site (Würzburg) to the Czech Rebuplic (Ostrava) in order to save manufacturing costs amounting to €38.1 million. The restructuring plan takes into account job cuts from current 1,564 to 814. German Trade Unions are strongly protesting against planned job reductions. The company intends to build a new plant in Ostrava and employ up to 1,200 people within two stages. The new production is to be launched in June 2006.
