Description

In the recent years, the glass-factory Steklarna Rogaška went through very difficult and turbulent times. At the end of 2005, it managed to avert a threat of closure when creditors approved the restructuring plan and changed the debts into shares. At that time the plan envisaged cutting 200 (mainly administrative) jobs out of 1068. Trade unions announced they complied with owner's decision. By the end of 2006, the number of employees has been reduced to 970. On December 2006, joint stock company Julius from Maribor bought Steklarna Rogaška. The new owner announced faster development of Steklarna Rogaška and its more intensive engagement in the global markets. The new owner plans to lay off another 50 employees, but on the other hand, new people will be engaged in the production and some other departments.
